They have been commercially distilling and promoting Manuka Oil since 1992 when Laboratory tests identified that a small area of the East Cape of the north island contained an unusual type of Manuka tree with powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties.

For the past 10 years, Tairawhiti Pharmaceuticals Ltd has researched and developed the East Cape Chemotype Manuka Oil and can use this experience and knowledge to deliver to you the best quality certified Manuka Oil with the highest levels of biological activity. The Company was formed specifically for the production of Manuka Oil and continues to be dedicated to the Research, Production and Marketing of Tairawhiti (East Cape) Manuka Oil.
